The X (formerly twitter) feed of the CanberraDSN recently included the image above of the Canberra Deep Space Commiunication Complex’s 70m DSS-43 antenna together with William Wordsworth’s lines “I wandered lonely as a cloud/ That floats on high o’er vales and hills…/ …Continuous as the stars that shine/ And twinkle on the milky way…” We reproduce them this week as Wordsworth was born on April 7th, 1770. William Wordsworth, together with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped launch the Romantic Age in English literature. “I wandered lonely as a cloud” is one of Wordsworth’s most famous poems (though the actual subject is neither clouds nor stars, but daffodils!).
