There was a large audience gathered (both in person and on-line) for Tasso Tzioumis’s retirement colloquium last Friday. Tasso joined CSIRO 34 years ago, but had strong links to CSIRO prior to that during his PhD at the University of Sydney working on SHEVE — the Southern Hemisphere VLBI Experiment. Tasso’s colloquium started with his childhood in Greece, and covered his PhD and many aspects of his career with CSIRO. This included the development of the Long Baseline Array, spectrum management, his term as Program Director for Technologies for Radio Astronomy, and the series of scientific meetings he organised in Kerastari. Those attending in person then gathered for afternoon tea, and the opportunity to present Tasso with some farewell gifts.
