Dongjin Kim recently joined CSIRO Space and Astronomy as a CERC (CSIRO Early Research Career) Fellow. He earned his PhD from the University of Cologne in Germany while working at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. During his postdoctoral fellowship at MIT, he worked on commissioning the 37-m Haystack telescope for spectral line observations and VLBI operations. His expertise lies in VLBI, where he has studied various radio sources, including molecular masers, active galactic nuclei, and the photon rings of supermassive black holes. His current research focuses on developing new methodologies to search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) signals and studying molecular clouds near AGNs using VLBI . These efforts aim to expand the scientific applications of both current and next-generation VLBI facilities.
