The Voyager 1 spacecraft was launched by NASA on September 5, 1977 and made flybys of Jupiter, Saturn, and Saturn’s largest moon, Titan before continuing through the outer solar system. It communicates through NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN) to receive commands and to transmit data back to Earth. It is now 164 times more distant from the Sun than the Earth, — approximately 24.5 billion km — and is the most distant human-made object from Earth.
