The front cover of a book titled 'Australian Physics', with aboriginal art displayed centrally.

The Australian Physics magazine is published four times a year by the Australian Institute of Physics to promote the role of physics in research, education, industry and the community. The latest issue includes an article “Construction underway of the Square Kilometre Array” by Peter Robertson, and the front cover reproduces a painting by Wajarri Yamaji artist, Margaret Whitehurst. The art work was commissioned to celebrate the completion of the first Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey (RACS), which detected 3 million galaxies, 1 million of which had never been seen before. The issue also includes another astronomical article, “What happens when matter is squashed to the brink of collapse? We weighed a neutron star to help NASA find out” by Daniel Reardon — work which was described in ADAPs and August .

CSIRO acknowledges the Wajarri Yamaji as Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders of Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory site, where ASKAP is located.
