A Happy Holidays card from CSIRO

The ASKAP Survey Science Projects include DINGO, EMU, POSSUM and WALLABY, but no KOALA — perhaps because K-band to radio-astronomers covers 18 to 27 GHz, well above the ASKAP operating range of 0.7 to 1.8 GHz! But other parts of CSIRO have got this marsupial covered: CSIRO leads and coordinates the National Koala Monitoring Program (NKMP), a $10 million project funded by the Australian Government’s Saving Koalas Fund. The collaborative program aims to build and deliver a robust estimate of koala numbers, which will aid ongoing recovery and management efforts. This year during National Science Week CSIRO encouraged families across Australia to actively take part in koala conservation and record their koala sightings in the Koala Spotter app. We wish all ADAP readers Happy Holidays!
