One of the principal activities of the Astronomical Society of Australia is the Annual Scientific Meeting, held in July each year to bring together astronomers from around Australia. The meeting provides the opportunity to stay in touch with developments across the broad range of astronomy in Australia. The meeting includes the Annual General Meeting of the Society and the public Harley Wood Lecture. The 2026 ASA Annual Science Meeting is being hosted by the Australian National University. In addition to plenary and parallel sessions, a series of Town Hall meetings are being held for ASA Chapters and for community discussions. Fittingly for a meeting held in NAIDOC week, the Welcome to Country was given by Aunty Dr Matilda House-Williams, a proud Ngambri (Kamberri) Wallabalooa (Ngunnawal) and Wiradyuri Elder, who was first person to perform the Welcome to Country protocol at the opening of the Parliament of Australia, in 2008.
