One of the world’s most powerful radio telescopes, our Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) based in remote Western Australia, has officially started ‘early science’. ASKAP’s antennas are now processing 5.2 terabytes of data per second – the equivalent of around 15 per cent of global internet traffic.
