CASS astronomer George Hobbs has been named as the NSW Young Tall Poppy of the Year.

The award was presented at an event at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum on Thursday 3 November. George was picked from a group of ten Young Tall Poppies to receive the top honour.

The Young Tall Poppy Science Awards, given each year by the Australian Institute of Policy and Science, recognise excellent early career research and passion in communication and community engagement.

George received his award for his research, particularly with the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array, and his outreach work, especially PULSE@Parkes.
