At about 7:10pm on 20 September, the first fringes were correlated for the 5-antenna 3mm system on the Compact Array. This is a major step in the completion of the MNRF high frequency upgrade, and a landmark for Australian radio astronomy.
The first scheduled observations with the complete system started at 11:00pm that night, and are continuing until the end of the millimeter season in October.
Congratulations and thanks to all those associated with the project, from the initial science case, funding, the planning, building, outfitting and initial testing.
