In response to the COVID-19 situation, the CSIRO Parkes Observatory Visitors Centre and Paul Wild Observatory Visitors Centre have been closed to the public. They will reopen on 4 July 2020 with physical distancing and other precautions in place.

At Parkes, the Visitors Centre will be open 7 days per week from 8.30am to 4.15pm. To ensure the safety of our staff and visitors, we’ll be asking all visitors to practice good hygiene and social distancing to reduce the risk of spread of Coronavirus in our community. In addition, the following measures will be in place:

– Visitors who are feeling unwell or who have any cold- or flu-like symptoms will be asked to stay outside.
– Visitor numbers will be limited to no more than 50 people inside at any given time.
– The number of people in the 3D theatre will be restricted in order to meet social distancing regulations.
– Hand sanitiser will be available.
– Additional daily cleaning of high-touch areas will be conducted.

Public visitor facilities at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex and the CSIRO Discovery Centre in Canberra remain closed until further notice.
