It was announced last week
that a Special Breakthrough Prize in
Fundamental Physics had been awarded to Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell in
recognition of her discovery of pulsars and her inspiring scientific
leadership over the last five decades. Previous Recipients of the US
$3M Special Prize include Stephen Hawking, CERN Scientists whose
leadership led to the discovery of the Higgs Boson, and to the LIGO
Collaboration that detected gravitational waves.
