Welcome to the Australia Telescope National Facility

CSIRO operates several radio astronomy observatories, telescopes and data archives that are collectively known as the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF).

The ATNF is one of the world’s most advanced radio astronomy facilities and offers a powerful view of the southern sky, supporting world-leading research by Australian and international astronomers. Our dedicated staff work across operations, research and technology in radio astronomy.

Our website is intended as a resource for all our ATNF users, whether you’re a student researcher, international engineer, university fellow, or CSIRO staff member. Here you’ll find information on what our telescopes are capable of, how to apply for time on them and make the observations, as well as details of our science and instrumentation projects, important meetings and events, and much more.
