The next Array Release of the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP)
is imminent. Late last year the last of the 36 antennas was outfitted with
its Phased Array Feed (PAF), however observing has only been possible with an
array of just over a dozen antennas while the processing hardware for the
remaining antennas was completed. The next Array Release will increase
the array to 18 antennas, with a corresponding increase in data rates flowing to,
and being ingested by, the supercomputer at Pawsey, representing the next
step towards operations with the full 36 antenna array, scheduled for early
next year.
