A Deeper View of the Universe Near and Far with the MWA |
by Nick Seymour (Curtin) |
Abstract.
The Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) is a powerful low-frequency pathfinder to
the Square Kilometre Array located at the Murchison Radio-astronomy Observtory
in Western Australia. Its wide field-of-view and high quality snapshot imaging
make it a powerful survey machine. I will summarise the extra-galactic science
from the publically released Galactic and Extra-galactic All-sky MWA (GLEAM)
survey which provided images and 20-band photometry across 70-230 MHz. In
particular I will highlight the outcomes of broad radio band studies of low
redshift star forming galaxies and distant radio loud AGN. I will also present
plans for the next generation low frequency surveys from the new long baseline
configuration of the MWA. In addition I will present the very latest deep,
"high-resolution" images and discuss synergy with surveys from ASKAP.
