ATNF Colloquium
The SKA Challenge
Evan Keane (SKAO)
Abstract: In this talk I will overview the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project. Its lofty goal is to build the largest radio observatory on the planet. The scientific targets are extremely broad and should be transformational for our understanding of the Universe. Such an ambitious project has many practical hurdles to overcome to go from concept to reality, e.g. there are massive data challenges in the era of the SKA that are unlike any ever encountered for any scientific project before. I will describe the challenges that have been overcome to date, give a status of the project as it stands today, and outline the next series of challenges being tackled.

The Colloquium will be given at the CASS Kensington (Perth) site, and videocast to the Marsfield Lecture Theatre.
