SKA calendar for September
The SKA calendar for 2020 celebrates the SKA family of pathfinder telescopes. September focuses on MeerKAT, which was inaugurated in July 2018. Operated by the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory, MeerKAT consists of 64 dishes, each 13.5 metres in diameter, with an offset Gregorian configuration providing an unblocked aperture. Seventy percent of the dishes distributed in an inner core, with a minimum spacing of 29m and a maximum spacing of 1km. The remaining 30% are spread out over a larger area, providing a longest baseline for the array of 8km.
