Brain transplant for the ATCA
As mentioned in a recent ADAP, the Parkes telescope and the Australia Telescope Compact Array will both benefit from Australian Research Council Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) grants. The ATCA grant will support a $2.6M upgrade of the Australia Telescope Compact Array in a project is being led by Professor Ray Norris from Western Sydney University, working closely with CSIRO and seven other university partners. Ray has written an article for The Conversation on the ATCA upgrade, reviewing some of the ATCA's achievements to date, and outlining what the upgrade will enable.
