The inaugural Australian Space Awards,
hosted by Space Connect
and principal partner KBR, were held last night
at a COVID-safe black-tie gala and online event.
The awards celebrated a field of over 120 finalists, shortlisted
from over 366 submissions representing 60 companies, across
the length and breadth of Australia's growing space industry.
CASS's Deputy Director, Sarah Pearce, was announced as
Executive of the Year and was also awarded the
Excellence Award. CSIRO was the winner in the category Research Organisation
of the Year.
The awards were supported by the Australian Space Agency and the
Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA), the government
and industry peak bodies, which provide a pivotal role in
providing the policy direction and support for developing the nation's industry.
