Parkes' other dishes
The Parkes 64m radio telescope is affectionately known as "The Dish", but it is not the only paraboloidal reflector at the Observatory. The image above shows in the foreground the 18 metre (60 foot) diameter Kennedy antenna, used in the 1960s and 1970s, and the 12 metre Parkes Testbed Facility, installed in 2008 to prototype technologies for the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder.
