| Tiling the sky |
| The Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey (RACS) is a survey of the radio sky visible to the ASKAP telescope. ASKAP's phased array feeds provide a much wider instantaneous field of view than a traditional telescope, which makes it possible to survey they sky much more quickly. The image above shows the 903 tiles, each corresponding to an individual pointing of ASKAP's 36 beams, to map the whole sky south of a declination of +41 degrees. |
