The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC), part of the Deep Space Network of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL),
celebrated its 57th anniversary last month, having been opened in March 1965.
The image above shows the Tidbinbilla 70m antenna under the constellation Orion,
with the blue-white Rigel (Beta Orionis) on the left and the red Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis) on the right.
The bright object near the centre of the image is not a star, but is the Orion nebula, the
closest region of massive star formation to the Earth.
