ATCA stairs
A recent ADAP showed the stairs from the surface of the Parkes 64m telescope, Murriyang, up to the focus cabin. Today's ADAP shows the equivalent at the Australia Telescope Compact Array. As the ATCA is of a Cassegrain optical design, the receivers can be maintained without needing to climb the support arms. The series of stairways leads from the fixed first level to the alidade level, which moves as the antenna rotates in azimuth. A lock-out system ensures the stairs can only be accessed when the antenna is in a stowed position with the stairways all in the correct position.
