Outstanding contributions to science were recognised last week by the
Australian Academy of Science, with 20 of Australia’s leading
scientists being honoured, including the award of the 2022
Pawsey Medal to Keith Bannister.
The Pawsey Medal recognises the contributions to science in Australia
by the Joe Pawsey, who was a foundation fellow of the Australian
Academy of Science in 1954. Its purpose is to recognise outstanding
research in physics by scientists up to 10 years post-PhD in the
calendar year of nomination.
The award recognises the work done by Keith
in leading
several projects at the forefront of radio astronomy, especially in the
area of fast radio burst (FRB) research, and his deep understanding of
both astronomy and radio-science engineering.
