The birthplace of Australian Radio Astronomy
The 75th anniversary of radio astronomy in Australia was celebrated in October 2020. Equipment which had been installed at the Collaroy Plateau air and sea defence radar station during World War II was used to detect intense radio emission from the Sun. The indefatigable Hastings Pawsey, who was the driving force behind the monument at Collaroy Plateau recognising the significance of the site, has now arranged for google maps to also celebrate this historical landmark, as illustrated above.

As tomorrow is a public holiday in Australia, then next ADAP will be January 27th.
