Earlier this month the Parkes Observatory hosted a
"Stargazing at The Dish" event with the Central West Astronomical
Society (CWAS), which was a success, despite the clouds that started
to gather later in the evening.
Visitors were able to view Venus, Mars, Alpha Centauri, the Eta Carina
Nebula, the Jewel Box Cluster, Omega Centauri, and several
constellations, all
with the Parkes 64m telescope, Murriyang, as the backdrop.
CWAS members and Observatory staff answered lots of questions about astronomy,
telescopes, gravitational waves, life, the Universe, and everything,
keeping the public interested even as the clouds set in for the night.
