Replacing the Parkes focus cabin
The decision in the early 1990s to build a 20cm multi-beam receiver for the Parkes 64m telescope, Murriyang, came with other consequences. The original focus cabin (or "aerial cabin") was not large enough to host the growing (in size, weight, and number!) Parkes receivers. The image above shows the new focus cabin arriving at the Parkes Observatory in November 1995. (Image credit: CSIRO Radio Astronommy Image Archive)
