Macquarie University’s annual Astronomy Open Night was held last weekend. This year’s event was the biggest yet with 3000 people coming to view exhibitions, visit Macquarie University’s Astronomical Observatory and Telescope Park, and hear from keynote speaker, Distinguished Professor Jon Lawrence, who leads technology development for some of the world’s leading telescopes. The CSIRO booth was busy throughout the evening, with children keen to collect stickers and postcards and ask questions. Attendees could also watch real-time pulsar observing Murriyang, the Parkes radio-telescope. The Macquarie University Astronomy Open Night is the largest annual public astronomy event in Sydney.
