Last week, while on their NSW Regional Roadshow, the Western Sydney University Solar Team visited the Paul Wild Observatory in Narrabri. They brought their latest car, the Unlimited 5.0 , which is a three-wheeled monohull, made of carbon fibre & Nomex honeycomb and weighing 197 kg. Powered by silicon solar cells, and with a lithium iron phosphate battery, Unlimited 5.0 successfully completed the 3,000 km 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge from Darwin to Adelaide. An earlier version, the Unlimited 2.0, won the 2018 American Solar Challenge making the Western Sydney Solar Team, the first international team to win this event.
