Observing with the ATCA can be undertaken from almost anywhere with a reliable internet connection, but it is still possible to observe on-site at the telescope. Recently, a group of students elected to to just that, and happened to be at the telescope when the array was being reconfigured by moving the antennas along the rail-tracks to new locations. The students were given the opportunity to see the reconfig in action, and ride on antennas as they were moved.
