Wear It Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments, particularly for LGBTQIA+ young people. Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers experiencing bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. Wear it Purple was established to show young people across the globe that there was hope, that there were people who did support and accept them, and that they have the right to be proud of who they are. Wear It Purple Day is held annually on the last Friday in August. This year’s theme is “Bold Voices, Bright Futures”, with artwork by Lee Evatt (He/Them), winner of Wear It Purple’s Youth Action Council (YAC) Design Competition to create a campaign message and artwork in celebration of LGBTQIA+ people openly and visibly achieving their dreams in sport, art, science and more!
