The David Malin Awards are an annual astrophotography competition held by the NSW Central West Astronomical Society. David Malin worked for 26 years at the Anglo-Australian Observatory as photographic scientist and astronomer, earning an international reputation for inventing new ways of revealing information on astronomical plates. The winners of the 2025 competition were recently announced. A selection of the finest astrophotographs will be exhibited for the entire year at the CSIRO Parkes Observatory’s Visitors Centre, and a second set will tour Australia in a travelling exhibition, organised by the Powerhouse Museum, to selected venues around the country.
