The New Norcia ground station, 130km north-east of Perth, is one of three stations in ESA’s Estrack network, with the others located in Spain, and Argentina. The stations are controlled by a command centre in Darmstadt Germany.

The tracking station has been in operation since 2003, and since 2019 has been operated for ESA by CSIRO Space and Astronomy, supporting day-to-day operations at the station. The station currently has a 35-metre and a 4.5-metre antenna, with a second 35-metre, NNO-3, to be commissioned in 2025.

The New Norcia Observatory, 130km NE of Perth, is the European Space Agency’s southern hemisphere tracking station and is operated by CSIRO.
