Our Perth office welcomes four CSIRO Undergraduate
Vacation Scholars
by Rob Hollow (CASS)
For the first time we are hosting CSIRO
Undergraduate Vacation Scholars at the Perth office of CSIRO Astronomy and
Space Science (CASS). The four scholars are each working on a research project
under the supervision of a Perth-based CASS staff member. Topics include work
on ASKAP beam forming and alarm systems, data from the MWA & there LBA and
studying stellar scintillation. In addition to their research projects the
scholars will visit the Australia Telescope Compact Array at Narrabri in
January for a hands-on observing experience were they will also meet up with
our Sydney-based scholars. The scholars come from Perth, Hobart, Adelaide and
Melbourne.
