An Eastern Bearded Dragon at Tidbinbilla
The eastern bearded dragon (Pogona barbata) is a lizard found in wooded parts of eastern Australia. Adult males can grow to about 60cm in overall length, with females reaching 50cm. Their throats are covered with spiny, dark grey scales which can be raised, when threatened, to form an impressive "beard". The image above shows an eastern bearded dragon taking advantage of a sunny morning to warm itself, with the 70m Deep Space Station 43 antenna in the background. (Image credit: @CanberraDSN)
