CSIRO Space and Astronomy staff are able to co-supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students. It is essential to discuss with the CSIRO student coordinator details of the proposed project and how engagement with the student and the university supervisor will be conducted.

Potential co-supervisors must:

  • Discuss potential co-supervision of student with the student coordinator prior to making an offer to a student.
  • Seek approval from their line manager to supervise a student.
  • Have at least three years’ contract remaining with CSIRO. However, the student coordinator may support co-supervision if it is a Masters or Honours student (i.e. under three-year project).
  • Provide additional information on the how collaboration will be maintained or strengthened if the student is at an overseas university.
  • Provide an update on the student’s progress report every six months.
