The comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) was discovered by the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) survey in April last year. The comet reached perihelion, its closest approach to the Sun, on 13 January 2025, and has been visible in recent weeks in the southern hemisphere. John Sarkissian snapped the image above late last week.
