The Australian Governor-General David Hurley and his wife Linda were
in Parkes yesterday and visited the Parkes Observatory during their stay.
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley were greeted on their arrival by
Douglas Bock, John Reynolds, Franco Di Dio, Parkes Mayor Ken Keith,
and Deputy Mayor Neil Westcott.
At the Visitor’s Centre the party met the principals and school captains
of schools in the local region.
The Vice-Regal party were then given a tour of the Parkes Dish, Murriyang,
After lunch, the Vice-Regal party then inspected the Visitor’s Centre and
admired the 2023 "David Malin Awards" astrophotography exhibition, before departing.
