All ATNF users are requested to acknowledge the Australia Telescope National Facility in any publications resulting from use of ATNF facilities, as outlined below.

Use of RORs

The global research community is increasingly adopting persistent identifiers to improve how resource use is cited and tracked. CSIRO has adopted the Research Organisation Registry (ROR) approach and the ATNF acknowledgement statements now include these. The ROR code for all ATNF telescopes is https://ror.org/05qajvd42. The use of a persistent identifier ensures our facilities are consistently referenced and described globally, and individual Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) such as ORCIDs support the inclusion of ROR codes. Note that CSIRO initially adopted GRID (Global Research Identifier Database) codes but, with the retirement of the public GRID system, all identifiers have been migrated to ROR.

ASKAP

Publications that use data from ASKAP or Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara / the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory should include the text:

This scientific work uses data obtained from Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory. We acknowledge the Wajarri Yamaji People as the Traditional Owners and native title holders of the Observatory site. CSIRO’s ASKAP radio telescope is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility (https://ror.org/05qajvd42). Operation of ASKAP is funded by the Australian Government with support from the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy. ASKAP uses the resources of the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre. Establishment of ASKAP, Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory and the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre are initiatives of the Australian Government, with support from the Government of Western Australia and the Science and Industry Endowment Fund.

Australia Telescope Compact Array

Users of the Australia Telescope Compact Array are requested to acknowledge the ATNF by including the text:

The Australia Telescope Compact Array is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility (https://ror.org/05qajvd42) which is funded by the Australian Government for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO.

and may also add

We acknowledge the Gomeroi people as the Traditional Owners of the Observatory site.

Murriyang, our Parkes radio telescope

In 2020 Wiradjuri Elders gifted names to the three telescopes at CSIRO’s Parkes Observatory. Using the telescopes’ Wiradjuri names acknowledges and respects the connection Wiradjuri People have to the land on which the telescopes sit. It also provides a tangible opportunity to celebrate the inclusion of Wiradjuri language in the wider community. Users are encouraged to recognise this in their publications, presentations and general communication.

Users of Murriyang, our Parkes radio telescope are requested to use the dual-name and acknowledge the ATNF by including the text:

Murriyang, CSIRO’s Parkes radio telescope, is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility (https://ror.org/05qajvd42) which is funded by the Australian Government for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO.

and may also add

We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people as the Traditional Owners of the Observatory site.

Mopra

Users of the Mopra telescope are requested to acknowledge the ATNF by including the text:

The Mopra telescope is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility (https://ror.org/05qajvd42) which is funded by the Australian Government for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO

and may also add

We acknowledge the Gomeroi people as the Traditional Owners of the Observatory site.

Observers who have used the Mopra digital spectrometer (UNSW-MOPS) are requested to add the statement:

The University of New South Wales Digital Filter Bank used for the observations with the Mopra Telescope was provided with support from the Australian Research Council.

Tidbinbilla

Users of the host country time on the Tidbinbilla 70m or 34m antennas at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) are requested to acknowledge the ATNF by including the text:

Host country access to Tidbinbilla antennas is arranged by the Australia Telescope National Facility (https://ror.org/05qajvd42) which is funded by the Australian Government for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO

and may also add

We acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the Traditional Owners of the Observatory site.

Long Baseline Array

Users of the Long Baseline Array are requested to acknowledge the ATNF by including the text :

The Long Baseline Array is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility (https://ror.org/05qajvd42) which is funded by the Australian Government for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO.

LBA users who have had their data correlated at the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre, or previously at Curtin University, on the DiFX software correlator are encouraged to cite the paper Deller, et al. 2011, PASP, 123, 275.

LBA users who have processed (or had correlated) data at the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre should add:

This work was supported by resources provided by the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre with funding from the Australian Government and the Government of Western Australia.

Archives

Publications which include data obtained through the National Facility archives for the Compact Array, Parkes spectral line or continuum data, Mopra or the LBA should include an additional statement as follows:

This paper includes archived data obtained through the Australia Telescope Online Archive (http://atoa.atnf.csiro.au).

Publications which include archived Parkes pulsar data should include an additional statement as follows:

This paper includes archived data obtained through the Parkes Pulsar Data archive on the CSIRO Data Access Portal (http://data.csiro.au).

Publications which include archived ASKAP data should include an additional statement as follows:

This paper includes archived data obtained through the CSIRO ASKAP Science Data Archive, CASDA (http://data.csiro.au).
