We are investigating two low redshift, unique and powerful radio galaxies, namely 3C310 and Hercules A. They are unique as they present essential similarities, which differentiate them from the usual behaviour of double lobed AGN. For example they contain large scale rings instead of hotspots, which are internal to the lobes and not just phenomena of the boundaries. We are studying their pc- and kpc- scale environment as well as the galaxies themselves in order to determine the origin of their exceptional and atypical tenue. For this reason we are employing multiwavelength observations across the electromagnetic spectrum. We report on our new results from this observational campaign.
