THE ALIGNMENT OF NEIGHBOUR GALAXY GROUPS IN THE LSC

We consider a sample of galaxy groups in the Local Supercluster, selected from Tully's Nearby Galaxy Catalogue. We examine the mutual orientation of major axes of these groups. Alignment significantly decreases as the distance between neighbours is increasing. The signal from the alignment extents out to more than 20(1/h) Mpc. The result support the gravitational instability picture of structure formation
