A PREMATURE ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACCELERATING UNIVERSE
Attila Meszaros
Astronomical Institute of the Charles University
At the last years
two groups declared the positive value
of the cosmological constant and the occurence of the
accelerating Universe.
This proclaim is obtained from the statistical
analysis of the dozens of high-redshift supernovae.
Recently, the author (ApJ, 580, 12, 2002) revised this
conclusion from a pure statistical point of view.
He obtained the surprising result claiming that
the rejection of the zero value of the cosmological
constant was premature yet. The statistical procedure
leading to this change, and some new aspects are
presented in the contribution.
