FIRST RESULTS FROM WMAP
Charles L Bennett
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

The first findings from a year of Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) satellite operations provide a detailed full sky map of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation. The anisotropy seen in this map, combined with newly detected polarization information, carry a wealth of cosmological information, including the age of the universe, the epoch of reionization, and the overall composition of normal matter, dark matter, and dark energy. The results open a new era of ruling out specific inflationary models. These and other aspects of the mission will be discussed. The WMAP satellite was built in a close partnership between Princeton University and the Goddard Space Flight Center
