X-RAY LARGE SCALE STRUCTURE AND HIGH REDSHIFT CLUSTERS
PIERRE Marguerite
CEA Saclay

We shall present the main cosmological motivations for studying the Large Scale Structure (LSS) of the Universe in the X-ray waveband. This provides constraints on the cosmological parameters that are independent to those obtained from the CMB and SN as they do not rely on the same physical processes. We'll summarize the results obtained with the ROSAT satellite and present new prospects with XMM; in particular the XMM-LSS survey. This will led us to consider associated multi-wl follow-up programmes leading to the identification and study of high redhsift clusters of galaxies. Clusters are key object for our undertsanding of LSS as they constitute the nodes of the cosmic network. We'll present a review of the current knowledge of z>1 clusters and how our understanding of high-z cluster physics is expected to develop with the coming-up of large statistical samples to be provided by the current X-ray observatories and associated follow-up.
