THE DISTRIBUTION OF HI IN THE NORTHERN SKY FROM HIJASS
Virginia A Kilborn
University of Manchester

The HI Jodrell All Sky Survey (HIJASS) is a blind HI survey of the northern hemisphere, providing a northern counterpart to the successful HIPASS survey. HIJASS uses a 4-beam multibeam receiver mounted on the 76m Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank Observatory. The survey has now covered ~2000 square degrees, concentrating on the Supergalactic plane and the North Celestial Pole. Nearly 500 galaxies have been catalogued, with over 10% being new galaxies not previously detected in optical surveys. We present highlights of the survey thus far, including the first blind HI survey of the Ursa Major cluster, and the neutral gas content of the northern Supergalactic plane.
