INTERMEDIATE-Z CLUSTERS: WHAT NEWS ON THE GALAXY POPULATION?
Catarina Lobo

Three galaxy clusters were detected in the optical at intermediate redshifts (z=0.6-0.7) and followed up with BVRI deep imaging and VLT spectroscopy. These data allowed us to perform a combined study of these systems, placed at an important epoch for structure formation: the assembly of rich galaxy clusters. This consisted in (1) exploring the Butcher-Oemler effect on these clusters, (2) performing a stellar population synthesis analysis of member galaxies, in particular to ascertain the percentage and radial distribution of K+A galaxies rather frequent in clusters at similar redshifts and (3) analysing the velocity distributions of galaxies with different spectral types within the host clusters. Such investigations aim at providing new insights on the role of the environment in the evolution of galaxy populations. We propose to present and discuss these results.
