How can we do astrophysics with cosmic ray arrival directions? - Roger Clay Colloquium

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium
15:30-16:30 Wed 20 Feb 2008

ATNF Marsfield Lecture Theatre

Abstract

Recent results from the Pierre Auger Observatory will be discussed. The demonstration that the highest energy cosmic rays show directional correlation with AGNs opens up a new window in astrophysics, in which the observed directional deviations and spectra of the cosmic rays might give insight other areas of astrophysics.

The Observatory will be introduced but the talk will concentrate on identifying astrophysics which may be addressed through the Pierre Auger dataset.
