ATNF Australian Workshop on
Clusters of Galaxies

February 6th 2001
Sydney, Australia

Introduction
Welcome to the first Australian Workshop on Clusters of Galaxies. The Aim of this workshop is to bring together the many and varied groups working on clusters of galaxies to forge new multi-disciplinary links and to generate enthusiasm and support for new cluster work and further cluster meetings in Australia.

Program
As the aim of the workshop is to bring together people from many and varied field of cluster research the scope of the meeting will be very broad and people are welcome to submit abstracts from any cluster related field.
The day will consist of several sessions each devoted to a different aspect of cluster research.

  • Session 1: X-ray Properties and the Intracluster Medium

  • Session 2: Clusters in the Radio

  • Session 3: Optical Properties of Low-z Clusters

  • Session 4: Cluster Galaxy Evolution

Science Snippets: We have left several 2min slots open at the end of the day for short presentations on interesting cluster results that people may like to give, but that would otherwise not fit into such a compressed program. Please advise the organisers if you have suitable material for a 2 min presentation and would like the opportunity to utilise one of these spots.

At the end of the day there will be a discussion session which will focus both on the presentations made during the day and the possibilities for the future, in particular future research and meetings, with a short time devoted to exploring the idea of proposing for a cluster related meeting at the next General Assembly of the IAU, to be held in Sydney in 2003.

A list of speakers and presentation titles will be given here and updated regularly.

    Facilities Updated (5/1/01)
The Workshop will take place in the lecture theatre at ATNF's Marsfield headquarters in Sydney. Full use of overhead projectors, slide projector and a proxima (computer projector) has been arranged. Presenters wishing to give power point or other electronic presentations may make use of the new ATNF hyperlink system. This system allows the presentation of electronic material on a single system and avoids the sometimes prolonged laptop switch overs during the meeting. Instructions of how to submit to the hyperlink system will be sent to speakers via email. Further information with respect to this can be obtained from the organisers.

For those people unable to attend in person who still wish to participate, teleconferencing has been arranged. The number to dial in is (02) 9372 4611 or if you are at ATNF ex 4611.
