LBA Correlation

The DiFX software correlator

All disk-based recorded LBA data is now corrrelated on the DiFX software correlator developed at the Swinburne University of Technology. LBA data was correlated using DiFX on on the Swinburne supercomputer cluster, under a service agreement with the ATNF in 2007 and 2008. From 2009, the major correlator facility for the LBA National facility operations is run under contract by the Curtin University of Technology. More details about LBA correlation are given on the LBA wiki pages.

The DiFX software correlator is described in Deller, Tingay, Bailes and West 2007, PASP, 119, 318. See also the DiFX home page.

The S2 correlator

Until the end of 2006, all S2 tape-based recordings on the LBA were correlated at the ATNF LBA hardware correlator. The S2 tape system was decommissioned in January 2007 and all recordings on the LBA are now on disks, using the LBADR recording system.

Details of the S2 correlator are included here for reference when examining archival LBA data.
