Dear all,
Full survey operations have begun for ASKAP Survey Science projects, and the all-sky survey by ASKAP, the Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey (RACS), now covers the full Southern sky at 0.9 (RACS-Low) and 1.4 GHz (RACS-Mid). This data is made publicly available to the community through the CSIRO ASKAP Science Data Archive (CASDA).
To facilitate the use of ASKAP data, CSIRO Space and Astronomy will host (fully online) interactive online tutorials to show users how to search for and access the data in CASDA.
CASDA has had updates to both UI and scripted (python Astroquery) functionality since the last set of tutorials, so I encourage everyone to attend for up-to-date information.
The intended audience:
• astronomers of all levels, from students to more experienced astronomers, and
• any astronomers interested in accessing ASKAP data, so not just radio astronomers or ASKAP Survey Science team members.
We will go through several different use cases, from the web user-interface to scripted access/download with Virtual Observatory tools. The plan is to cover the UI in one tutorial, and scripted/VO services in the second tutorial, with plenty of time to take questions and cover your own personal use-case.
The one-hour sessions will be:
UI: Tues 8th Aug 10:00 AWST / 12:00 noon AEST
UI: Thur 10th Aug 14:00 AWST / 16:00 AEST
Scripted/VO: Tues 8th Aug 15:00 AWST / 17:00 AEST
Scripted/VO: Thurs 10th Aug 08:00 AWST / 10:00 AEST
(the same material will be covered in the repeat session)
